Functional DNA: A Powerful Argument for Design
by Eric P.
The concept of junk DNA has garnered renewed attention in Intelligent Design circles. On May 2nd, 2024, geologist and Discovery Institute fellow Casey Luskin debated Rutgers evolutionary biology professor and anti-creationist Dan Cardinale. Luskin summarizes his position:
Spinning Seeds from the Sky
by Don DeYoung, PhD
There are many fascinating discoveries at the intersection of math and biomimicry. The latter term describes the discovery of practical designs in nature. For example, Velcro is based on the flexible hooks of cockleburs. This article extends biomimicry to a classic example of intelligent design erodium or filaree, a genus of plant known by the corkscrew stem on its seeds. When a seed falls to the ground, the stem absorbs moisture and unwinds, pushing the seed downward and self-planting.
